corners 4 courses high. 2 walls 1 course. slow start, good day! hot today. crew tired. it is great to see shape coming out of ground!
We had a good first day on the site. This is the dry season and this part of Haiti may not see rain for several months. The low area we are in is very dry and dusty. The temperatures stayed in the high 80's most of the time. Most Team members drank 10-12 bottles of water per day while on the work site, hydration is a factor in these conditions. We worked to clean the mud and sediment out of the footers. The corners of the medical building were confirmed and secured and then construction began. Our masonry sand had large 3/4" stones in it, one of our first tasks was to secure screens so we could sift all the sand, several tons of it. The Haitians were eager to help, our Translator, Jerrel, was kept busy at times communicating with the Nationals that we only needed a few helpers each day. It was a blessing to work alongside these men. God sent every skill we needed just as we needed them, His timing is incredible!
